NAIS provides services to more than 2,000 schools and associations of schools in the United States and internationally. NAIS supports school leaders at all levels, including heads of school, school administrators, trustees, and faculty, with the data, research, resources, and professional learning that allow them to perform their roles at the highest levels— and ultimately, help students flourish.
NAIS is running a rebranding project for the whole organization that was planned to finish in 2024. The NAIS website is used to attract new members, promote organization events, and provide helpful information for members & parents. NAIS website is built on Kentico.

Future plans include a full rebuild to a new version of CMS Xperience by Kentico, this project starts in 2025.

The project vision is to redesign Members Directory page based on the new branding and replatform it on Xperience by Kentico.

TASK DESCRIPTION

• Make listing in the directory more attractive for potential members;
• Utilize content management abilities in CMS to be able to include rich content in the directory (images, video, etc);
• Improve page loading speed;
• Replace SalesForce Lighting based search;
• Restructure website structure by including location-based landing pages in the Member directory to improve SEO rankings;
• Improve user journey from the website to Members directory for parents & schools.

Additionally: implement SSO/SF module refactoring in order to improve the performance such that login is faster.

How we worked together

Dedicated team

● Team Lead - team supervision, technical guidance & quality control
● Project Manager - responsible for coordinating with NAIS
● UX/UI Designer -  design/ layout of key pages and planning the overall user journey
● Frontend Developer - implementation of frontend changes
● Backend Developer - implementation of replatforming to XbK
● Quality Assurance specialist - quality control, regression testing.

Project processes

ByteMinds used JIRA as project management & bug tracking tool.

ByteMinds project manager kept a shared RAID log (Risk, Action, Issues, Decision).

ByteMinds team ran weekly demos & reports of progress via Slack & email updates & records of demos for future reference.



ongoing communication

We used shared NAIS Slack room for communication.

Despite the fact that the client was working in the ET time zone and the Byteminds team was in the CET time zone, this did not create any issues for the project. All communication was timely and without delays.
